Does non-surgical nose filler hurt?
It is the question I am asked most often before a non-surgical nose job. The short answer: no, it is a well-tolerated, low-discomfort treatment. Still, it is worth understanding what you actually feel, step by step.
Nose filler (medical rhinoplasty) reshapes the nose with hyaluronic acid, without a scalpel. It can smooth an irregular bridge, lift a drooping tip or correct small asymmetries in minutes, with no surgery and no downtime. Because it is an outpatient procedure, the most common worry is about pain.
What you feel during the treatment
The main sensation is not pain but a mild pressure as the product is shaped. At the moment of injection you feel a brief sting, comparable to other facial fillers. Most patients describe it as a momentary discomfort rather than real pain.
To keep it comfortable I use two things:
- a topical anaesthetic cream applied to the area beforehand;
- hyaluronic acid already blended with lidocaine, which reduces sensitivity during the injection.
How long the session lasts
The treatment usually takes 15 to 30 minutes. There is no downtime: you return to normal activities right away, only avoiding touching or pressing the nose for the first few hours.
And afterwards? Recovery
In the following hours you may notice slight redness or a small swelling at the injection point, which settle on their own quickly. Rarely a small bruise. These are normal, temporary reactions.
How long the result lasts
The effect is immediate and lasts on average 9 to 18 months, depending on the product and your individual features. Being hyaluronic acid, the result is also reversible: if needed, it can be dissolved.
The most important thing remains the preliminary assessment: not every nose is an ideal candidate for filler, and in some cases the right solution is surgical. That is why every path starts with a consultation where we look at your goals and what is realistic together.
